Weather in transit from supplier, at dock, in storage, at preparation station,
staged for production on press reel stand, Newsprint Manager maximizing profits.
Upon purchase of newsprint the supplying mill electronically
updates the Newsprint Manager of the shipment identifying each roll by a unique
barcode.
As a new delivery is unloaded, the overhead barcode scanner automatically identifies
and verifies receipt of each roll. Operators may use mobile capable devices, PDAs
and wireless scanners to identify and receive the new rolls. A detailed claim to damaged rolls may be recorded including categorized damage
types, and the amount
of striped waste.
All roll logistics are performed using Windows Mobile™ capable devices, PDAs and wireless
scanners. Bar-coded locations allow operators to simply point and place when moving rolls to and from inventory storage, preparation stations, staging and
press real stands. Transit waste and roll preparation wastes are recorded during
these active transactions.
During production, Newsprint
Manager maintains usage of each roll and records consumption
for each print job. In addition, web break and waste tabulations provide critical
information for analysis of paper performance, basis weight verification, and production
costs.
Newsprint Manager provides a seamless interface with Cintech’s automatic press copy
count system TOTALIZER. This allows web waste and consumptions to automatically
reconcile with actual copy counts providing a complete picture of waste, consumption, efficiency and costs into and out of the press.
